EXPERIMENTAL WATERMEDIA

These 3 EXPERIMENTAL WATERMEDIA pieces are part of 5 works displayed at the
2 ARCHERS ART GALLERY in Dunedin.

EXPERIMENTAL WATERMEDIA means I did not know what I was doing when I began them,
I let the painting evolve and 'take me' where it wanted to go, I was just experimenting with textures and watermedia and just let It happen.

WATERMEDIA - Watermedia is a collective term for water-based media, such as acrylic inks,
watercolor paints, water-based crayons, watercolor pencils, acrylics, etc.

TEXTURES - Anything goes here. Saran Wrap, stamps, stencils, textured wallpaper samples, fancy papers, tissue paper, lace----the list of texture goods is as long as your imagination and spirit of 'why not ?' Sometimes the paper toweling leaves their marks on the painted paper and sometimes the paper toweling becomes a beautiful piece of art in and of itself, as seen adhered to "THE SILK ROAD PURSE" # 3 painting - Yes, the gold purse is a painted paper towel. In the center painting I used tape to get the various colors in straight lines and left a couple pieces of the tape on there, which now made "MA, IN A LINEAR WORLD" a mixed-media piece.

ARTIST TRADING CARD made with tyvek

This is an ARTIST TRADING CARD made with tyvek.
Express Mail envelopes are made of tyvek.
Cut the gummed flap off, cut open the 3 sides and
iron pieces of the tyvek in between 2 sheets of
Parchment Paper. The tyvek shrinks into interesting designs.
It can be painted any color.

ARTIST TRADING CARDS are traded among artists, but also make
nice gifts.
Art is adhered to a regular sized playing card or any other
2 1/2" x 3 1/2" card stock paper ; something trendy is put on the back
or maybe artist's info and title of the ATC.

Show n' Tell at an EAST LAKE ART CLUB meeting

This is an unfinished painting from 2 photos I took at Erika's Place on Broadway in Dunedin. I shared this during Show n' Tell at today's EAST LAKE ART CLUB meeting at Chris Parliman's
East Lake home.

THE EAST LAKE ART CLUB :
I started the EAST LAKE ART CLUB up with an ad in the paper about 11 years ago.
I knew there would be neighboring artists painting alone in their home studios
as I was. I received 20 phone calls from my ad : The EAST LAKE ART CLUB was off
and running. Since our onset we have had shows at the East Lake Woodlands Country Club,
libraries, city halls, out door art shows and have displayed our art at many other venues.

Long-lasting friendships have formed and we all look forward to our meetings.

NEW TOY

At the end of September 2010 I took a
4-Day Collage Workshop with
Carrie Burns Brown during the
Florida Watercolor Society's
Trade Show and Convention in
Palm Harbor, Florida.
Carrie worked under an overhead
mirror , and I had a camera. "Aha,
I will take her photo, her photo in
the overhead mirror and maybe
the folks around me." Voila.
a new toy !
